Don DiGiorgio “Beyond My Grave” [DOPE!]

The third unofficial single from Donomatopoeia, “Beyond My Grave” is Don DiGiorgio’s “confessional” about his position in the rap game. Over sampled production from DJ P’Dough, (see ’80s hair band Cinderella’s “Nobody’s Fool”) Don asks himself, “What’s it really got for me?” in regards to his hard work and dedication to his craft for the past 10 years. While the first two verses focus on the negative aspects, “Hate and opposition/ so-called peers plotting for my position” and his lack of monetary gain “a little bit of scratch/ pack a venue and get a little bit of cash,” the third verse focuses on the positives “I’ve met a lot of good people throughout my career/ and grew wiser from the fake relations.” Well worth a second listen, “Beyond My Grave” is an inside look at the mind and thoughts of a lyrical emcee who claims to be “aged way beyond (his) days and spiritually beyond (his) grave.” Look for more insightful and thought-provoking tracks from the artists’ (formerly Kotix) sophomore effort Donomatopoeia set to drop January 30, 2012
