After thousands of downloads, a slew of live dates across America and countless hours spent chopping beats to blunted perfection in the lab, New Orleanian producer/deejay Quickie Mart proudly presents the Space Monkey Radio EP, a collection of artist-approved dubstep remixes of songs by rapper Freddie Gibbs, California ska-funk outfit Slightly Stoopid, New Orleans bounce pioneer Ricky B, and singers Shyvonne and Justina. The SMR EP is a prelude to a forthcoming full-length album of Quickie Mart dubstep remixes with the likes of Galactic, Her Majesty & The Wolves, Murs, Irma Thomas, the Soul Rebels and many more. To commemorate SMR’s release, QM offers his remix of “Wasted” by singer/songwriter/musician Jes Hudak for free download. Jes was introduced to the world via her stint on Bravo’s reality show Platinum Hit, and has been recognized by Billboard, AOL, ISSA and the LA Music Awards for her talent. Her most recent release is last year’s National Holiday EP. In the last two years alone Quickie Mart has released three volumes of the Haze Diaries mixtape series with rapper Gotham Green, featuring Freddie Gibbs and Planet Asia. Gypsyphonic Disko, his klezmer/New Orleans bounce/hip-hop fusion project with Ben Ellman of Galactic, was included in Nerve.com’s Five Albums You Should Be Listening To Right Now and his Brain Salad Surgery mashup tape was released in late 2009.
