Got wind of a new remix from the one and only Collin McLoughlin — of the Deathcab for Cutie track “Transatlanticism”.
“Deathcab for Cutie,” is a band that has received no shortage of accolades. Helping define the alternative / indie band sound of the early 2000’s the group established a highly respected reputation for Ben Gibbard’s unconventional vocal and lyrical style, allowing for extremely deep and metaphorical lyrics in a still highly supported format.
“Transatlanticism,” has always been my favorite song by the group. I can remember playing the song on my CD player at home when I was young, wondering how they were able to craft such a sonic landscape that continued to build and evolve throughout the track. It is a beautiful piece of art, and one that still impacts me when I hear it to this day.
After my move from NYC to LA, I decided to take a stab at reworking this classic song. I opted to re sing the vocals myself, and altered the production to suit my more melodic bass style.
