Ricky Rude follows up the recent release of his mixtape “Ready to Live” with an MTV supported video single entitled “Top of the World.” On the record Ricky Rude spits his observations about life growing up with music aspirations and wanting to change the world with his words. The track is brutally honest, which Ricky says is a vital component to his music. “People relate to honesty,†explains Ricky, “because it’s through lyrics that fans recognize flaws in themselves.â€
The closing song on his 2013 EP No Guts, No Glory, this lo-fi rock-hiphop crossover features live guitars, bass, keys with an indie rock influence mixed with 808s. Rude collaborated with Brainwave, Jordan Graves, Mahi and Jaron Gulino on the beat at Bright Boys studios and the song came together naturally. He is accompanied by rising vocalist Jenna Lotti on the inspirational hook. In Rude, hiphop gets a bright new talent, a lyricist with clever wordplay and catchy one-liners, with a knack for putting harrowing revelations of a rebellious kid from New Jersey to music.
