Among thousands of shows during Austin’s SXSW Music Conference, The Indie Life Concert stood out as one of the most dominating events for independent hip hop. During the course of the six-hour long showcase, Agave Bar overflowed, often times at-capacity, as music lovers, taste-makers, and industry professionals enjoyed performances by some of today’s most prominent artists.
Highlights of the night included a special guest surprise performance by hip hop legend and icon, Beanie Sigel. Gripping the crowd for close to thirty minutes, Sigel gave an incredible performance including well known hits, new material, freestyles, and even a touching heart-to-heart talk with his fans and supporters. The energy in the room was at an all-time high. Additional headliner acts, including Termanology and Statik Selektah, Emilio Rojas, Oddisee, SmCity, Jon Connor, Rapsody, Kooley High, and Harmony Muzik performed throughout the night.
Close to twenty of the most talented and independent hip hop acts from around the country came together on the Indie Life Stage this year. While mainstream acts and labels swarmed the streets of Austin, during what has traditionally been a proving ground for the indie movement, the Indie Life Concert held its own against the mainstream events to provide fans and concert goers and incredible night of music and entertainment.
