Born to a teenage mother and big time Brooklyn hustler, Mellzy is no stranger to the fast life and the grind that it requires. Nestled in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, New York, Mellzy was the product of an abusive home. At the age of seven he and his twin sisters ran away with their mother to Virginia for the first time, residing in South Stafford. Not too long after, they returned to New York and soon found their way back to the Commonwealth, this time settling in Spotsylvania, VA. Representing the “Knucklehead” crew, Mellzy has become the voice of the Hispanic Community, and is praised for his ability to merge the realness of trap music and its heavy bass with the griminess and tempo of NY music.

A pure bred hustler and businessman, Mellzy is an entrepreneur in his own right. With the help of his mentor Frayz, who he credits much of his success to, Mellzy started designing clothes and not only owns an online thrift store called The Lo Zoo which specializes in vintage Polo Bear apparel and accessories, he also operates a Verizon Wireless store in the DMV area. With a felony for cocaine distribution in 2007, who would have known that five years later he would have emerged as one of the hottest rappers of his generation. In 2012 he dropped his first video “Polo,” which was directed by Dotty of Tristan Cinemas. Taking a short break to focus on real life and the vision for his music, Mellzy came back with “Polo Thuggin.”
