MTV Hive enlisted Detroit producer Hir-O to put together “The Origin Story,” a 43-minute mix that narrates his musical career with exclusive new material, previous highlights, and songs from influences such as J Dilla, Flying Lotus and Nujabes. MTV Hive wrote that Hir-O’s beats “are intentional in their ruggedness and dissonance.” They added, “Rest assured that the institution of Detroit hip-hop is being maintained by capable young hands.”
The mix also includes songs from his instrumental record “The Voyage Home” and “The Kick,” his album with Red Pill. Both records are available now.
