Hailing from Chicago, Lyriq discovered his passion for music at the tender age of five. He would rap and sing in front of local barbershop and grocery stores to raise money for studio time, “I would raise about $50.00 a day†states Lyriq. By the time he was nine; he’d successfully produced his first track and was discovered by Willie Taylor of Making The Bands Day 26.
Lyriq is no stranger to the obstacles that come with being a recording artist. He’s already been a member of 4 groups and signed to 3 different labels—with the latter being to Ludacris DTP imprint. After five-years with DTP, Lyriq was forced forced to part ways with the label due to lack of financial support, causing his group, B.X.C. to halt as well. During that time B.X.C. toured extensively playing in front of hundred thousands of fans.
Sixteen years after he produced his first track, Lyriq refuses to let his fire dwindle and he has harnessed each experience and obstacle to prepare him for the next phase of his career “I believe music is the voice of the world, and I only want to be heard†Lyriq asserts.
Lyriq’s most recent features include guest vocals for the likes of Twista and Lil Scrappy and he has toured with Ke$ha, 2 Chainz, Wale, Big Sean and Wiz Khalifia and he has now released his latest mixtape, I.Am.Lyriq., which was premiered today by Livemixtapes.com and features appearances and production from Sir Michael Rocks, YP, Chris James and C-Sick.
