“We Came Along Way†is a solo song by The Source Unsigned Hype alum Carlos Ferragamo and the last single of the year for The Lost Angels. The song explores the connection between Carols and the struggles both his mother and grandmother face in trying to give him a better life. “We Came Along Way†brings a personal connection to the stories of racial prejudice and self determination that is a central part of The African American experience.
Jimmy ValenTime explains a “My goal in creating The Lost Angels was to address some subjects that might get ignored in mainstream hip-hop music. I wanted to entertain people, but provide the opportunity for my friends to talk about things that have impacted their lives.” Carlos adds “”We Came Along Way” was one of those personal records for me. It’s a song of triumph not despair. The production was chosen to mirror that of the blacks during slavery days. Sounds something like what they would be singing like they were working in the fields. I felt it was the perfect back drop to tell my story.”
